How to convert WebP to JPG
WebP is not a broken image — it is a modern format some software still refuses. Here is the quickest fix.
Why WebP files fail to open
WebP arrived as a web format: browsers read it, but many older editors, upload forms and office suites expect JPG or PNG. A saved .webp often opens fine in a browser tab and then fails everywhere else.
Convert without uploading
Opening the image in a browser and re-saving it through a canvas gives a JPG without sending the file to a server. That is exactly what the converter on this site does: decode locally, re-encode locally, download.
When to keep WebP
For a website, keep WebP: it is smaller at the same quality. Convert to JPG when a specific app demands it, or when you need maximum compatibility.
Quality settings that matter
For photos, 80-85% is visually identical to the source. For screenshots with text, go to 90% or convert to PNG instead, since sharp text exposes JPG artefacts.
