Image compressor
Shrink a photo without losing the detail that matters — and see exactly how much smaller it gets.
Most "compress image" buttons hide what they did to your picture. This page shows the size before and after, lets you pick the quality, and never uploads the file: the compression happens in the browser.
How to use it
- Drop one or more images
- Set the quality (70% is a good balance for web photos)
- Check the size change and download
Frequently asked
- How small will the file get?
- Usually 50-90% smaller for photos at 70% quality; the result card shows the exact change.
- Does it change the dimensions?
- No, only the encoding. Use the resize tool if you also need smaller pixels.
- Is the original quality lost?
- JPG and WebP compression is lossy by design. Keep the original if you may need it later.
